Workin!

Another month of the Scrapbook and Cards Today Online Class is in the books!  I was inspired by the sketch to create this layout about our 2018 Mission Trip to St. Augustine, FL.  Because it was such a successful and rewarding week, I decided to document it.

All the supplies are from Close to My Heart.  The patterned papers are from the retired Jack packet. The arrows and the title were cut on the Cricut.  I actually cut the title four times...one with patterned paper (this is from No Worries) and three times with White Daisy cardstock.  I glued all the layers together to create a title with dimension.  Yes, it was a little bit of a pain in the rear, but I love the results.  I hope you can see the dimension in this picture:

So are you inspired?  No Cricut to cut your letters?  You may want to consider the Thin Cuts Alphabet from Close to My Heart.  It is 25% off until the end of March!  Visit my website or contact me for ordering information.

Until next time...
Sue

Got the blahs...

Winter blahs...it has been days since I have even thought about being creative. So I thought I would share my last project and maybe just talking about it will get me back in the mood!

I have previously shared how challenges spark some mojo with me.  I especially like the sketch and color challenges...they give me somewhere to start and from there I can usually add my personal touch.  Other challenges I like include themes or particular paper packets. The CTMH design books and the Idea books provide sketches and design ideas. Being on the design team at Heart 2 Heart Challenges has also been very inspiring.

So, with all that being said, let me talk about my latest source of inspiration.  I signed up for a monthly online layout class with Scrapbook and Cards Today.  The email I received included a picture of a completed project along with all the instructions (measurements too) and cutting files. Suggestions are also made for those that do not use a cutting machine.  Here is my interpretation of the January layout:

I used paper and Complements from the retired Hello Lovely packet and last year's Color of the Year, Sea Glass.  While I thought of using paper from the new Chelsea Gardens packet, this was the paper I have had in mind for these photos, so I went with it.

My new papers and supplies from Close to My Heart came the other day, so I hope to have some new projects for you to see really soon.

Now if someone would just prod me into finishing my cleaning and sorting project in our home office...and cleaning kitchen cupboards...and cleaning the closets...

Fighting the blahs,
Sue

Bear Hugs

It is sketch time at Heart 2 Heart.  Haley Bell Dyer designed a sketch that is just asking for your interpretation!  I love the Jack paper set and the cute little bear included in the Jack Cardmaking Stamp set and Thin Cuts, so I found a way to make them work.  This was a fun card to make.  I hope you are inspired to link up your own take on this sketch!

Here is the sketch...you have until the end of August to link your project.  Just click on this link to access the Heart 2 heart site.

So Lovely!

I'll make this post short and sweet.  I was so happy with this layout I did today that I just had to share.  I think, mostly I am happy with the subject matter...my granddaughter's first prom and how beautiful she looked.  Her dress, her hair, flowers...everything was perfect for her.

A few design details:
Design credit to Cheryl Even
Used the Hello Lovely paper packet (retired)
Journaling block is a Picture my Life card
Used floral zip strips as accent
While not seen on the photo, I used the Shimmer Pen to accent the title
I had intended to use some Complements, but they would have made the layout too busy; used Gold Glitter Gems instead

Enjoy!

I will am posting this at Heart 2 Heart Challenges

In Stitches...Old and New!

When I saw that our Heart 2 Heart challenge was In Stitches,  I  could not get the Stitched Together stamp set out of my mind. Because it is long retired, I combined it with current product to demonstrate how the old and new work together..  This pattern is from the Workshops Your Way Anniversary Cardmaking Kit (G1131). The sentiment is, strangely enough, from the Race Car Birthday Set (B1531). I used patterned paper from the Adventure Fundamentals set along with White Daisy and Sea Glass cardstock.  The stamping was done with Memento Black and Raspberry inks. The bling additions are Silver Shimmer Trim and Silver Sequins.

This is the card as created from the kit.  I love the Sorbet and Sea Glass together!

And this is the same card done with papers from the No Worries collection.  I love them all!

Be sure to visit Heart 2 Heart to see what the Design Team has created for you.

This card was also submitted to the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge.  You will also love the inspiration found there!

Heart 2 Heart...No Worries

The entire Design Team at Heart 2 Heart Challenges is coming together this week to challenge you with interpretations of No Worries. This may mean using the papers and/or the colors from the paper pack with the same name or it may mean creating a layout or card that reflects that feeling.  I can picture beach or picnic layouts, kids enjoying summer vacation or maybe just a floral card that invokes feelings of joy or peace.

I chose to use No Worries papers and the No Worries--Scrapbooking stamp set to create my card. This is the card I will be using as a swap at the Close to My Heart convention.  Actually, when you read this, I will already be home from Salt Lake City loaded with new ideas and projects that I will be able to share with you.  I am getting so excited!

So, keeping this short, I hope you are inspired by this card and will visit the Heart 2 Heart Challenge site to see what else the Design Team has created for you.  While you are there, why not link your project?  We love to be inspired!

Color Dare #248

This week Color Dare is inspiring us with some of the colors from the No Worries packet.  I chose to use a couple patterned papers from that set as well as Desert Sand, Sapphire, Glacier and White Daisy cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment with New England Ivy and added more green by using some bling from the retired Blue and Green Epoxy Gems.

This is the sketch that inspired me:

Bamberg!

Here I am...one layout closer to getting my riverboat cruise album done!  I had these pictures printed and the layout selected when I saw the palette designated for this weeks Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge.  I love the combination of Slate, Whisper, Pomegranate, Fern, White Daisy and Black. These colors are just perfect for these pictures!

Design credit goes to Donna Cosgrove
In addition to White Daisy, Black and Slate cardstock, I used the following patterned papers:
  • The weathered wood is from the No Worries packet--Seasonal Expressions 2
  • The Pomegranate dot is from the Enchantment Fundamental pack--2016-2017 Annual Expressions
  • The Fern patterned paper is from the Hello Lovely packet--retired.
The challenge also used silver as an option. The Silver Sequins from CTMH have a matte finish that were perfect for this more rustic look.

The gals on the Design Team really outdid themselves this time...each of their projects are beautiful!  I really encourage you to click on the link and check out their artwork!

Just Dandy!

This week's Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge features the Close to My Heart exclusive colors Cocoa, Smoothie, Lemon, Sea Glass, Cashmere and White Daisy.  It seems like such a long time since I have seen Cocoa featured anywhere so I decided to give it some attention as the background. (the Cocoa looks black in the picture, but it is a dark brown...really!) The stamping was done with Sea Glass and the Dandy and Little Leaves stamps.  Each of these are M size stamps and are only a "dandy" $2.95!  They are perfect for background stamping and also can be trimmed out as I did for the leaves behind the hearts.  The hearts were cut from Smoothie with the smallest of the Hearts Thin Cuts. Matting was done with Cashmere.  That left me with Lemon...look closely...I used a yellow sequin from the Prickly Pear Sequin Set and topped it off with a Bitty Sparkle.

All the products used on this card are from the 2016-2017 Annual Expressions catalog, except for the sequins which are in the Seasonal Expressions 2.

OLE!

It is Fiesta Time at Heart 2 Heart Challenges and Team Ruby is all set to inspire you!  For my card, I immediately thought of the Prickly Pear paper packet from the Close to My Heart Seasonal Expressions 2 catalog.  In addition, I used Sapphire and Tangerine cardstock.  The stamping was done with the Fiesta Time stamp set. The little party-loving cactus cutting file was found on Cricut Design Space.  The Prickly Pear Sequins provide the bling.

This was one of the more fun cards I have made recently.  I hope you enjoy it and are inspired to create your own fiesta themed art!  And then...I hope you will submit to the Heart 2 Heart challenge. Just follow the link at the bottom of this post!

Life is Good!

The challenge from Color My Heart Color Dare this week is to create art using the colors from the Little Dreamer  packet.  Such happy colors!  So I chose to create a layout using photos of our favorite people from the riverboat trip we took last summer. These people also make me happy!

In addition to the Little Dreamer paper, I used White Daisy and Glacier cardstock.  The embellishments other than the "friends" stamped image are from the Good Life Complements. Bling is provided with Little Dreamer Glitter Gems. Design credit goes to Donna Cosgrove.

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge (literally)!

OK, I was really stumped with this challenge.  I could not figure out how to take these colors and create a project that was balanced and pleasing to the eye.  After several trips through my CTMH catalogs and more than a little Pinterest browsing, I finally decided on a design. I used the pattern for one of the cards in the Jack Cardmaking Workshops Your Way from the CTMH Seasonal Expressions 2 catalog.

Here are the colors assigned in the challenge:

While most colors are apparent, you may have to search for the Tangerine.  It, along with Blossom, is one of the colors in the lightest banner.  The White and Gold Twine fills the gold requirement.

The papers shown are from various paper packs, some new and some old.  Feel free to contact me for more information.  To see more inspiring projects using these colors, please visit:
